Libyan Desert Glass Necklace

Sterling Silver Chain

Libyan Desert Glass was used in ancient times as a gem stone for the Pharaohs

It was formed by a meteor crashing in the desert, creating a tremendous amount of heat on impact, at least 1600° Celsius. It blasted the sand into the sky, and it rained back as liquid glass.

Found in Gilf-el-Kebir, a remote region on the border of Libya, Sudan and Egypt.

Presented in a plush-lined box, and specimen i.d. card provided
